You might be confused by how the beef between Stefflon Don and Jada Kingdom started or even what they’re saying in their diss records, if you don’t understand patois. In this article we will be breaking down the Stefflon Don and Jada Kingdom beef.

The starting point of beef:

Stefflon Don is a British rapper of Jamaican descent. She gained international success in 2017 with her single “Hurtin’ Me.” Steff and Afrobeat artist Burna Boy dated for 2 1/2 years before breaking up.

It’s rumored that Burna Boy hit single “Last, Last” is about his break with Stefflon Don. In the song, Burna is explaining getting over the love of his life through liquor and marijuana.

Fast forward to 2023, Burna Boy states “All of the best pum-pum deh a Kingston So me buy a Birkin fi Jada Kingdom” in the hit song Talibans 2.

This line would be the starting point of the beef between Steff and Jada.  Burna Boy will then buy Stefflon Don a Rolls Royce Cullinan for her birthday, as they appear to reconcile.

Beef hits a boiling point:

Through 2023, Stefflon Don would have lines that fans speculate to be about Jada Kingdom. But, on January, 9th Stefflon Don would drop a song called “Dat A Dat ” making it clear she’s addressing Jada Kingdom.

Steff says, “Neva f–k ah man fi go land pon a jet, yuh neva f–k my man still a box yuh fi get.” Explaining that Stefflon Don never had to have sex with a man to fly on a jet. This line is a respond to the rumors that Burna Boy showered Jada Kingdom with numerous gifts and flown her on a private jet.

The second portion of the line explains that she (Jada) never had sex with Steff’s man (Burna Boy), but she (Jada) still has to catch these hands.

Jada Kingdom responds to Stefflon Don:

Jada Kingdom responds to diss by releasing the song London Bed where she is rapping over the Talibans 2 Instrumental. In the intro, there’s someone stating a women can’t have the best “Pum Pum” if she doesn’t inspire an artist to write a song about it.

Followed right after this line is Burna Boy’s line from Talibans 2 “All of the best pum-pum deh a Kingston So me buy a Birkin fi Jada Kingdom.”

Jada will go on to call Steff bad mother, jealous, promiscuous and even make allegations about Steff brother being involved with underage girls.

Many will weigh in on the beef:

Both Stefflon Don and Jada Kingdom will respond with numerous diss songs towards each other. Many will weigh in on the beef, Dancehall legend, Sean Paul express to both parties they need to do better and be a better example for the youth via twitter.

It appears to be more conversations on social media about why the club isn’t clubin’ anymore. Many are weighting in on why there seems to be a decline in the nightlife culture nationwide. This article will take a look at some of the various factors people have on why the there’s a decline in the club and nightlife culture.

The music:

Many people owe the decline of nightlife culture to the type of music being played in the clubs today. Some argue that there aren’t many records meant to dance to as in prior generations. Commentators express how the overwhelming amount of trap songs being played in the club, does not create an atmosphere for partying.

With the performance Usher put on at the Super Bowl Half-Time show, many took to social media to complain about how this generation doesn’t have upbeat R&B songs like Usher U Don’t Have To Call or Caught Up. Others asked the question Why aren’t there more EDM songs sung by R&B artists in like the early 2010’s era?

The sections:

Another point of conversation for the decline in nightlife is the section culture. A key downfall of the club culture is the dancefloor being minimized to make room for sections. Sections aren’t conducive for mass social interaction. The section type of clubs promotes more of flexing or celebrity status than meeting new people and engaging with others.

The Cost:

People on social media make mention of how they were able to go out almost every week years ago and how the cost of going out has changed that drastically. People note that promoters are charging upwards of $20 – $50 on expected crowed night. Depending on if the venue has a celebrity hosting venues will sometimes charge a $100 for an entry fee!

Police are investigating a shooting that left eight high school students critically injured in the altercation.
UPDATE: [VIDEO] Three of Four Suspects Arrested in SEPTA Bus Shooting

Eight Northeast High School students were shot in Philadelphia near a SEPTA bus station at Rising Sun and Cottman avenues shortly before 3 p.m. Wednesday, Police Commissioner Kevin Bethel said.

“It is hard to sit here and see in three days and have 11 juveniles shot who were going and coming from school,” said Bethel, who became police commissioner after serving as the Philadelphia school district’s chief of school safety. “The cowardly acts we’ve seen over the past three days are unacceptable. The fact that we’ve had this situation – where I’ve talked about it multiple times – the downstream impact when we don’t address gun violence and don’t address guns is what we see today.”

Bethel said as the students were getting onto a SEPTA bus, three shooters exited the vehicle near a Dunkin’ and fired more than 30 shots.

According to CBS news, the students range from 15 to 17 years old. One, a 16-year-old, was shot nine times in the torso and placed in critical condition. All of the others are in stable condition, police said.

Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle Parker expressed her frustrations to the media in the middle of the rain.

“Enough is enough,”  Mayor Cherelle Parker said. “Every law enforcement partner that we have here in the city of Philadelphia is actively engaged and working together to ensure that every resource that is needed is readily available so that the work can be done to solve the crimes.”

According to Police, the suspects in pursuit are three masked shooters who were inside a dark blue Hyundai Sonata with paper tags.

Police released surveillance video that shows the gunmen hopping out of the car, firing shots in the direction of a bus and then fleeing the scene in the dark blue Hyundai.

Sources said a car matching the dark blue Hyundai’s description was recovered overnight by the police in the city’s Olney section. However, the shooters remain at large.

There’s has been no report on any arrests or motive of crime.

One of the National Football League’s well known Defensive Tackles, has announced his retirement from the Association. Fletcher Cox has decided to call it a career in the NFL after 13 years. The lifelong Philadelphia Eagle was drafted with the 12th overall pick back in 2012 by Philadelphia.

A leader in the locker room, and the epitome of professionalism on the field, Cox undoubtedly set the standard in the NFL on how to go about business as a Defensive Tackle in the league, and was a pro’s pro.

While Cox was longer considered an ‘elite’ defensive tackle in his final season he remained productive, recording five sacks, 33 tackles (three for loss), 17 quarterback hits, two passes defensed, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery in 2023.

“I don’t know what’s next for me, but I do know that I’m forever grateful for my time here in philadelphia” – Fletcher Cox

The announcement came via social media, as Cox took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to post a very heartfelt retirement note.

“April 26, 2012 was a special day that changed my life forever when andy reid called me to say i would be drafted by the philadelphia eagles.” Cox wrote. “I fulfilled a lifelong dream by making it to the nfl, but what i didn’t know at the time was how much of an honor and privilege it would be to represent the city of philadelphia and the eagles organization for the next 12 seasons.”

He then goes on to pay homeage to the fans, explaining that Philadelphia is a place that he will cherish forever. Through thick and thin, highs and lows, there is nothing like Philadelphia sports fans.

“To eagles fans everywhere – there is not a fan base in all of sports that is as passionate as you. You are intense and demanding, but it’s because of how much you care.” Cox noted. “After spending my career here, I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way. I’ll never forget the feeling of running out of the tunnel at lincoln financial field or the roar of the crowd after making a big play. One of the proudest moments of my life was holding up that lombardi trophy at the rocky steps while looking out into the sea of fans. It was breathtaking to realize what we were able to accomplish and how much it meant to so many.”

Fletcher sums up his sentiments with an official retirement statement.

“After much reflection, I have made the decision to retire from the game of football. I gave everything I had to this team and to this city. I don’t know what’s next for me, but I do know that I’m forever grateful for my time here in philadelphia and with the eagles organization. Go birds!”

The Eagles have been on a mission since the start of free agency to rebuild their roster for championship contention. With the retiring of two future Hall of Famers in Jason Kelce and Fletcher Cox, the Eagles have been looking to fill the void of the pivotal pieces necessary to make a deep playoff run next year. So far, they have addressed one of a few defensive needs with their latest signing.

Free Agent Devin White has decided to sign with the Philadelphia Eagles. White signed a one-year deal worth up to $7.5 million.

White was selected with the fifth overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. White was dominant in the 2020 season, recording 140 tackles (15 for loss), 9 sacks, and 16 QB hits, and a Super Bowl ring.

According to NBC Sports, The Eagles ranked near the bottom in nearly every defensive category last year, including points allowed (30^th), passing yards (31^st) and total yards (356 per game), first downs (29^th) and 3^rd-down conversions (30^th).

As Howie Roseman is still in the process of making free agency moves, the defensive woes have been lessened as White will be expected to contribute to the Eagles defense in a major way.

It has been reported that popular Philly artists Phat Geez, was reportedly killed early Monday morning.

Who is Phat Geez?

Phat Geez has been in the Philadelphia music scene for quite some time. Alongside getting the notable recognition from his peers, he also received a cosign from Philadelphia’s own Meek Mill, which catapulted Geez onto the radar of those who’d never heard him prior. Phat Geez was popular for his 2014 debut EP Cut from a Different Cloth Vol1. in which his mantras ‘Why not?’ and ‘Priceless’ began to grow legs.

Phat Geez was also apart of the anti-violence movement. His most recent single was called “No Gunzone” spreading awareness to the explicit lifestyle our youth in faced with in Philadelphia on a daily basis. Geez also went into depth on the Philly First 48 podcast, explaining how hard it is to let bygones be bygones and ‘squash the beef’ have someone has died because of it.

‘So when n***** is telling n***** to squash the beef or something, them n***** is in this s*** bro. They can’t squash it even if they wanted to. [Retalitation] is deeper than anything bro.” Phat Geez explained. “[You could have] Played basketball, had a career everything everything bro, they took ya homie out. Now you gotta drop everything and react.. or be a p****”

After these controversial statements, Philadelphia influencer Manny 215 spoke out to discredit Geez’s sentiments, encouraging the youth of Philadelphia a different way of life in terms of problem soving. The two then met up with to rectify the message in one of the most peaceful fashions. Both parties spoke on their issues, and were able to see both parties point of view without sacrificing the dignity of either side. The encounter ended with a picture and a caption that some up with the city of Philadelphia is supposed to represent, brotherly love.

Phat Geez echoed Manny 215’s sentiments 100%, as he left a heartfelt comment under the post. “Really tho as men … this hold we handle situations as men I Love you Brother for the sake of Allah may Allah watch over us and lead up to the right direction Ameen” Phat Geez wrote.

A day later Phat Geez was reported dead. Meek Mill was the first to break the news via X, formerly known as Twitter. “Rip phat geez…..Philly is a terrible place for black people to live… you see too much death!!!! Smh” Meek wrote.

Charlie Mack, another prominent figure known as Mr. Philadelphia, took to instagram to offer his blessing to the fallen Geez.

“Bismillah, I pray that Allah accepts this Youngin @phatgeezz right here and make his grave spacious!! I hear folks say, this one hurts. But they all hurt. I’m very disappointed in the way these Youngin have absolutely no respect & regard for their own lives.” Charlie Mack wrote. “It’s sad that #Death is the only option to resolve an issue. I’ve and I’ll keep saying learn how use your BRAIN & HANDS if that doesn’t work!!!”

“They will be no next generation shortly with all the young buls killing anyone in site!!! How are any of us not be fed up and applying major pressure on our City to claim MARTIAL LAW?!?!?!!? It’s extreme time we’re living in and we’re in need of EXTREME measures to be taken!!”

Police say that a body was found in the Schuylkill River Sunday afternoon.

According to Philly Voice, a Marine Unit responded to a caller around 3:30 p.m. that claimed a body had been discovered in the river along the 2900 block of Spring Garden street.

The person had no signs of trauma or other physical wounds, police said, and was pronounced dead at 5:10 p.m.

The victim is a Black man in his 30’s and has been identified as a John Doe, Fox29 reported.

An initial report from police said the body was found in the Delaware River, but it was subsequently corrected to the Schuylkill River. The 2900 block, which sits above a train yard and I-76, connecting to the Spring Garden Bridge over the river.

Police say this is an ongoing investigation into the incident.

April 1st is here, which means Spring cleaning is in full effect. The City of Philadelphia is beginning its annual street sweeping season.

Which means we are back to dedicating one day a week to refrain from parking on a certain side of the street so our community can stay clean.

This street-sweeping initiative dates back to the Kenney administration which was launched shortly after the 2020 pandemic. A “Litter Index” provides the city with a list of sidewalks in 14 neighborhoods throughout Philadelphia that have the highest concentration of litter so the community workers no where to focus most of their restorative energy.

Since Mayor Cherelle Parker has stepped into office, she has been tired of hearing Philadelphia being labeled as the ‘poorest’ big city, and making an aggressive effort to make Philadelphia the ‘cleanest’ big city. Subsequently, Mayor Parker has added expanisive restoration routes to seven of the existing neighbors and could be adding more areas to monitor in the coming months.

According to 6ABC News, Strawberry Mansion, Logan, Kensington and West Philadelphia.

Here are the key things to remember this Street Sweeping Season

• Be sure to pay attention to “No Parking” signs. Note the day and the times on each sign, so you are aware when to move your vehicle to avoid tickets and fees.
• Street sweeping will operate four days per week, Monday through Thursday, excluding city-observed holidays.
• Virtual meetings are being held to give residents the opportunity to find out more information and ask questions. The next meeting on April 10 at 6 pm.
• The Warning period for failing to remove cars from designated areas beings Monday April 1st.
• Fines will begin to be issued for failure to comply beginning April 29th

A portion of Interstate 95 northbound near the Betsy Ross Bridge and Aramingo Avenue Interchange in Northeast Philadelphia is closed Monday night for an emergency bridge repair, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said.

According to CBS Philly, the detours began on Monday night at 10 p.m. and the highway will be closed for several days.

PennDOT revealed in a news release that the city is starting overhead bridge repairs after a vehicle struck the Conrail Bridge in Northeast Philly Monday around 1:30 p.m.

The Betsy Ross Bridge/Aramingo Avenue area of I-95 north was sectioned off to one lane for several hours while engineers assessed the structural damage of the bridge.

Here’s what you need to know to get around the city

• I-95 northbound drivers will be detoured to use Exit 26, the Betsy Ross/Aramingo Avenue Interchange, turn right on Aramingo Avenue, and turn right onto Adams Avenue to access the ramp to I-95 north.
• The Castor Avenue ramp to I-95 north will also close. Drivers will have to use Aramingo Avenue to access the I-95 ramp at Adams Avenue.
• The New Jersey Transit Atlantic City Rail Line has also suspended service in both directions between Philadelphia’s 30th Street and Cherry Hill stations as a result of the bridge strike.
• The AC Rail Line said it is providing an alternate bus service between the 30th Street and Cherry Hill stations for riders.

On the Week of ‘The Matrix’ turns 25 years old today, Neo is being forced to make another decisive decision; as the Classic ‘Matrix’ series is looking to add another cinema to their collection.

According to IndieWire.com, Warner Bros. announced that the studio is in the works on a new “Matrix” installment courtesy of Oscar-nominated filmmaker Drew Goddard, who wrote the screenplay for “The Martian” and co-wrote and directed “The Cabin in the Woods.”

Jesse Ehrman, Warner Bros. Motion Pictures President of Production, says that he is thrilled for Ehrman to be in this position.

‘The Matrix’ stars Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss are still synonymous with the sci-fi film a quarter of a century later; however, Ehrman trusts that Goddard will be able to pay tribute to the movies original movie all while keeping it original with his own creativity.

Roc Nation has announced that they will be canceling their Made in America music festival this year. This has been the second consecutive year that the festival has been cancelled.

The announcement came via an online statement and was followed up on social media via a post on X, formerly known as twitter, as the social media management team released a statement about the concert’s current state. Despite being discontinued consecutively, the organization promises the festival will make a return.

“Since its inception, this groundbreaking festival has celebrated music & community – from creating a space for fans to connect, to uplifting local small businesses & shining a light on important causes. It has strived for accessibility, eliminating barriers through affordable tickets and locations,” the statement said.

“As purveyors of that charge, the Made In America executive production team is reimaging a live music experience that affirms our love and dedication to music and the work we do. We promise an exciting return to the festival.”

This announcement comes subsequently the festival was canceled in 2023 due to “severe circumstances outside of production control.”

A date for the 2024 festival had not been set.

According to sources, since rapper Jay-Z launched the event in 2012, it pumped $180 million into the city’s economy.

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) affects people of all races and ethnicities. However, Black children are diagnosed later and have less access to resources than their white counterparts. I had a chance to speak with Jahmiel about the Autism Father’s Conference happening on April 6th, 2024.  During the conversation, we highlighted the importance of autism awareness in the Black community and organizations working to bridge the gap.

When it comes to Autism lets make it clear that AUTISM is not a dirty word.  We need to work to understand the disparities.

According to to studies, black children are diagnosed with ASD an average of six months later than white children. This delay can significantly impact their development and access to crucial early intervention services.  Several factors contribute to this disparity, including:

• Implicit bias: Misconceptions about how autism presents itself can lead healthcare professionals to miss signs in Black children.
• Limited access to resources: Financial limitations and lack of culturally competent healthcare providers can make diagnosis challenging for Black families.
• Stigma: Historical mistrust of the medical system and a hesitancy to discuss mental health issues can prevent families from seeking help.

Fortunately, there’s a growing movement to increase autism awareness in the Black community. Organizations like Children’s House Of Philadelphia are working to:

• Educate families: These organizations provide culturally relevant resources to help Black families understand autism and navigate the diagnostic process.
• Advocate for change: They push for improved access to culturally competent healthcare and early intervention services for Black children with ASD.
• Challenge stigma: By openly discussing autism within the Black community, these groups aim to create a more supportive environment.

Join them on 4/06/2024 to join the conversation. The 2024 Autism Fathers Conference is an engaging safe space where all fathers of children with autism are welcome to recognize, acknowledge, and empower one another.  This will all take place at the Aspira Education Campus at 6301 N 2nd Street.  Let’s raise the vibration and make autism awareness the focus in our community!

Our on-air personality Supreme was able to sit down with Mr. Owens, Family Relations Coordinator at the Center for Autism research at Children’s hospital of Philadelphia, to talk about the event and life fathering a child with Autism.

REPORT: Police have responded to a call that shots were fired in the Parkside section of Philadelphia following an Eid Mubarak Celebration.

Eid marks the end of Ramadan, a month when devout Muslims fast daily from dawn to sunset.

According to police, at least two people were shot in the area of 48th and Girard section of Philadelphia as people were celebrating the end of Ramadan.

As reported by Action News, A pedestrian who was running from the scene was hit by a car. The extent of that person’s injuries are not yet known.

Floyd is set to make her Penn Live Arts debut in Are We Yet Somehow Alive?, a moving world premiere that pairs jazz, blues and gospel with fine art projections to share compelling first-person accounts from enslaved Africans in America.

At the intersection of despair, endurance and resistance, these narratives explore what it means to be human amidst the struggle for liberation and dehumanization. Praised for her distinctive sound and progressive jazz ensembles, Floyd uses her soaring mezzo-soprano voice to shine light and find defiant joy in our experience.

I got a chance to speak with them exclusively when it comes to the History of the Negro Leagues, the city of Philadelphia, and why it was necessary for this collaboration to happen.

” Philadelphia was a hub for Negro League Baseball and the Philadelphia Stars players themselves added to the rich history. In 2015, the Phillies released They Said We Couldn’t Play: An Oral History of the Philadelphia Stars that honors the Stars legacy in the city while giving those living during the time of filming the opportunity to share their story. Gene Benson, Bill Cash, Mahlon Duckett, Stanley Glenn, Harold Gould and Wilmer Harris all contributed to the narrative. ” – MLB.com

Major League Baseball has been known as America’s sport and dominated during the end of the 19th Century into 20th. It provided entertainment, healthy competition, high anticipation, and built athletes that turned into superstars throughout the early 1920s to World World II. An entertaining league that did not provide equality for all.

With racism, prejudices, and the “Jim Crow” era, all of these factors prevented African American baseball players to enter the Major League. While many enjoyed the sport and played throughout their tenure in the military, college, and company teams, from the1880’s yet professionally there wasn’t a platform to elevate to due to the color of their skin. This did not stop these athletes from being successful, like most of Black American History, we take such matters into our own hands.

Before Jackie Robinson’s debut as a Brooklyn Dodger, which broke the “color line” with an MLB team integrating with their first African American player, there is a rich history that isn’t told enough.

“There were attempts from the 1890s to the 1940s to break the color line at the major-league level, but none succeeded. By the 1890s, most Black professional players had to play on all-Black teams, barnstorming across the country.” — SABR.org

Rube Foster had double the amount of success. Known for being an exceptional player on the diamond yet a phenomenal manager, made him unstoppable, being crowned as the “Father of Black Baseball”.

“In 1920, Foster set the wheels in motion to create the Negro National League, an association of black teams modeled after Major League Baseball. Foster was named president and treasurer. The first successful league for African-American players, the NNL flourished throughout the decade. Players†salaries rose to an unprecedented level, teams traveled on Pullman coaches and players received regular bonuses.” – baseballhall.org

Philadelphia played a major part is in the success of the NNL. With the Origins of the Philadelphia Pythians, which opened the door for the success of the Philadelphia Stars.
